Marry in Haste. Hell, Yeah

Warning Do not read this book if you dislike weddings.

Reid wants a ring on Zarley’s finger, but Zarley doesn’t need a wedding to feel married to Reid. Owen is ready to start a family, but Cara isn’t sure she wants kids. Sarina is pregnant and proposed to Dev and he wants a wedding—by the weekend.

Venue, guest list, invitations, the dress, the suit, rings, vows, catering. It’s a lot to get done in a few days. What could possibly go wrong?

Only one thing is certain with this shotgun wedding, love is the trigger and hearts will take a direct hit of happiness.

For better, for worse, forever.

This is for readers who enjoy catching up with the HEAs of couples in the Sidelined series. All the stories in Sidelined can be read independently, in any order, except Shotgun Wedding, which is more fun if read after Offensive Behavior, Damaged Goods and Sold Short.

Shotgun Wedding includes a bonus Sidelined Origins story, Running Interference, about how Reid and Dev met Sarina and Owen.

Shotgun Wedding Sidelined Book 4 eBook Ainslie Paton Belinda Holmes Reviews

If you loved the Sidelined characters, you'll be thrilled to read this. It is written with chapters from the point of view of each of the main characters, and gives satisfying closure for all three couples. It takes place immediately after book 3, Sold Short. I usually don't like books of this sort, that cover after the couples get together, but these characters were so compelling that I wanted to see the "what came next". I'm so glad I did. I love you, Reid! ❤️

I did NOT receive an ARC. I wrote this review because I loved the book!
Shotgun Wedding is like a giant epilogue to the Sidelined books by Ainslie Paton. It is full of rounding off and weddings. More than anticipated. Totally delicious and perfect.

It is a time to revisit the three couples and see how they are getting along with each other. Rather well actually. And Dev and Sarina - the last couple to get together are the first kids off the block when it comes to marriage. The wedding is going to be fast and simple and the perfect venue is found. The perfect celebrant is found and finally Dev faces his family with the news.

Owen and Reid would very much like to be married too, but their women are not so keen. Owen and Cara have an issue because Owen would really like to have children in the future and Cara is just so not sure she wants to be a mother, and if not now not even maybe in the future. So how does this get resolved or will they just give each other up because they want different things. Oh, but of course they love each other so...

Reid too wants to be married, he wants to be legally bonded with Zarley so that if anything ever happens to him she'll be well provided for. Well that's what he says, but actually I think he just wants Zarley married to him, full stop. But Zarley is adamant she will not be married. So...

This was a delightful, romantic finish up and I loved it. It was great to meet up with the couples again, see them being themselves but more than themselves.

This book though needs to follow the three before it and I did and loved them all.
First of all...please read all 3 books in the Sidelined series before reading this book/review. Shotgun Wedding is an epilogue for all three couples.
It's about what happens once their book said THE END. Because their stories are SO not over yet.

Reid is desperately trying to get a ring on Zarley's finger and she is not having it! She doesn't need some papers saying she's in love with Reid. But Reid wants it for so many reasons! Ugh poor guy.

Owen has almost the same problem. Cara is not really scared of getting married, but she's horrible against having kids. Of losing herself once she's 'only' a mother. And poor Owen wants his own family!

And then of course we have our newest couple. Dev and Sarina. Newly pregnant and about to get married as soon as possible. How to plan a wedding in 4 days! And how to break the news to your strict indian dad! ☺

LOTS of obstacles still left to jump over until all six of them can finally take a deep breath and enjoy their happily forever ever afters! ☺

✪✪✪✪✪

It wasn't all that long, but it was perfect. We got to see them all again. All their weirdness and adorableness! They're just all so perfect for each other - as lovers and best friends! Great group of people!
Lots of very angsty and moving and teary moments! I just adored this book!!!

►► SHOTGUN WEDDING was the most perfect epilogue a series can have!!! Adorable, moving, sexy, frustrating, funny ... just perfect!
Run to your nearest asap to find out what happened to all our darlings after THE END!!!
The Sidelined series by Ainslie Paton is a sexy and unique contemporary romance series centered around Plus, a software and app design company and the four college friends who started the business together. Reid is their chief innovator, Owen is the money guy, Dev is the engineer and Sarina is their people person. All of them have found their happy endings in the first three books of the series Reid with Zarley (Offensive Behavior), Owen with Cara (Damaged Goods), and Dev with Sarina (Sold Short). Shotgun Wedding is best read after reading at least one of these three stories as it isn’t meant as a standalone. However, if you do decide to read it first, you’ll definitely be intrigued enough by all the couples to want to go back and find out how they got together in the first place.

Shotgun Wedding takes place a few days after the end of Sold Short. Dev and Sarina are together, Sarina is expecting a baby, and they’ve decided that after wasting so much time being just friends they want to get married right away. Planning and executing a wedding in less than a week will take everyone’s help and talents if they’re going to be successful. Meanwhile, Reid laments that Zarley keeps turning down his proposals, saying she’s content with the status quo. And Cara and Owen have issues of their own, Sarina’s pregnancy giving rise to a discussion about children that at one time seemed an unlikely scenario for them. The pressure is on to pull off the perfect wedding in record time, with ripple effects that will affect everyone involved.

What a delight! I’m never quite sure how I’ll feel revisiting couples that have already had a happy ending, but this one pulls everything together wonderfully, touching on serious subjects but keeping an overly lighthearted feel. It’s told from all six points of view, giving us an inside look at each of the couples and what makes them tick. And what makes it so enjoyable is how unique each character and each relationship is. I loved seeing the wedding preparations from six different eyes, and the thoughts and feelings of them all as Sarina and Dev get ready to take the next step in their relationship. Each couple gets some page time and there are some sexy scenes in the mix too. Zarley’s ‘renovation in progress’ nightclub Lucky’s becomes the wedding venue, and Cara’s skilled designer hands make sure that Sarina will be wearing something fitting for a bride-to-be. There are some scenes with the three men as they talk about their relationships and similar ones with the three women. There are lots of emotions in this story, but the overwhelming one is joy.

The friendship between Reid, Owen, Sarina and Dev is strong and resilient, having faced many challenges as they built their company. There’s a bonus at the end of Shotgun Wedding too– an origin story showing how Reid, Owen, Dev and Sarina met in college and the first inkling of how their start up company came to be. I loved that glimpse into the past! I highly recommend this entire series if you’re looking for contemporary romances that have a unique flair, sexy scenes and flawed, intelligent characters who aren’t afraid to admit their mistakes in the pursuit of happiness.
